The Northvale Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, service-oriented, highly motivated, and creative Youth Services Library Associate. This position is to provide library services to youth(0-18), to their families, and to adults working with youth; encourage STEAM learning; and promote information literacy.
This position will report to the Library Director.

Position Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one year of experience working with children and teens in a library setting. Knowledge of BCCLS and LEAP is preferred. A candidate working towards their MLS degree is preferred, but not required. Ability to lift, sort, shelve, and push library materials of up to 40 lbs. on an occasional basis.

Duties: Greets and works with library patrons of all ages, diverse backgrounds, and abilities while demonstrating a positive attitude. Interprets and explains library policy and services to the public. Plans prepare and conduct monthly youth programs (in-person and/or virtual). Plans special programming projects such as Summer Reading, school outreach, community outreach, etc. Oversee Youth Services collection development and collection maintenance. Compiles statistics for programs, reporting them to the Library Director. Completes opening and closing duties as appropriate. Updates & posts to the library’s social media pages & website. Promotes and publicizes the youth services program in the schools and the community. Works collaboratively with senior staff to build support for the youth services programs in the community. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Position Details: This is a part-time position of approximately 28-30 hours per week, including 2 Saturdays per month. Hourly wage is $16-$20. Standard holidays, paid vacation, and sick time provided in accordance with the library’s personnel policy.
